We’re an international team brought together by our love for home automation and product development. We stumbled upon an idea that can change the world and we’ve spent the last two years working around the clock to bring it to life.
Creating Guardian has been a collaborative effort between our mechanical, software, and electrical engineering teams. We spent weeks researching before even sketching. We studied dozens of valves and existing water detectors, consulted with plumbing, restoration, and insurance professionals, and paired all of that with our years of experience in the home automation world to create a unique product that can be beneficial to every homeowner. We quickly learned that creating a one-size-fits-all solution isn’t easy. Our months of work and countless revisions are proof of that.
We challenged ourselves to create a reliable, always available solution that anyone can install, without tools or cutting into pipes. We wanted the system to detect water and take action automatically, even if the user is away from their home. And our final design, for both the Valve Controller and Leak Detector, is truly revolutionary in form and function.
In developing Guardian we learned that water damage affects more households than fire and theft combined in the U.S. each year, yet the vast majority of homes are not equipped to mitigate or prevent the damage that can occur. The average claim can be anywhere from $8,000-$15,000, and is often the result of faulty appliances, burst pipes, human error and natural causes. Water damage not only costs homeowners and insurance companies money, they can be extremely frustrating, time consuming to repair, and personal possessions are often lost.
We understand the amount of damage water can do to a home and it’s our mission to protect every home in the world from that.
